Judy's life at home and work has been greatly improved by having A-rated, double glazed, wood effect PVC windows installed by MakeMyHomeGreen.

Can you tell which windows are wood and which ones are Wood Effect PVC?

Can you tell which windows are wood and which ones are Wood Effect PVC?

Judy’s flat is in this lovely period building. MakeMyHomeGreen replaced her single glazed wooden sash windows with A-rated, double glazed, wood effect PVC windows. Her neighbour had wooden sash replacements installed by us. Can you tell which of the windows above are wood and which are wood effect PVCs?

The MakeMyHomeGreen service employed by Judy was the supply and install of A-Rated double glazed PVC sliding sash windows. The impact has been:

  • A 10% decrease in energy bill
  • Elimination of cold window draughts
  • Increased security
  • Noise reduction

Like many people living in period properties in London, Judy loved the elegant features of her home including the wooden sliding sash windows.

But she was unhappy with the constant drafts she was experiencing and the security risk of the windows not closing properly, including the main one in her bedroom not closing for five years! Judy was also conscious that she was wasting a lot of energy and money from heat loss through her single glazed windows. With the curtains closed to counter the draughts, her lovely bedroom was always dark.

Judy contacted MakeMyHomeGreen after a recommendation from her neighbour who had previously employed us to provide and install white wooden sash windows.

MakeMyHomeGreen sent an advisor out to Judy’s house to measure up all her windows and talk with her about her requirements. We then provided Judy with a quote to supply and install new wooden sash windows. We also provided a significantly cheaper quote to replace the windows with white wood effect PVC sash windows. Her previous quote from a national supplier had been three times higher.

Judy was initially reluctant to consider PVC windows as she associated them with the unattractive white shiny plastic windows she had seen installed in other homes.

But with the aid of a sample window, we were able to show Judy that our wood effect PVC windows are very close in appearance to wooden windows.

Once Judy confirmed her window order, a date for installation was agreed. The windows were then installed by one of MakeMyHomeGreen’s highly qualified, FENSA registered installers, with over 10 years’ experience of fitting windows. A member of the MakeMyHomeGreen team was also present to supervise the installation, ensuring the work was done to Judy’s satisfaction.

Judy was so happy with her new windows at home, she convinced her boss to employ MakeMyHomeGreen to replace the windows in her office.

Judy found that the temperature control, noise reduction, and the elimination of draughts helps her to enjoy her life at home and at work much more.

Judy has now asked for and received quotations to have two sets of wood effect PVC French windows to be replaced at the back of the flat.

“I’m really delighted with all my windows. MakeMyHomeGreen were very reasonable compared to other quotes and you can hardly tell they were not the originals. The quality of the wood effect PVC is so good that it is almost impossible to tell that it is indeed not wood until you get right up close to it.  None of my friends realised until I told them.”
